Intermodal Loads for Owner Operators in St. Louis

Owner operators can use the free DrayNow app to find local 53’ intermodal container loads in the St. Louis region. If you’re unfamiliar with intermodal drayage, it involves picking up containers from rail yards and getting them loaded or unloaded at a separate location before bringing the container to the rail yard again. Since the container needs to go back to the rail, these trips will be local and low mileage, staying well within a 250-mile radius.

Intermodal loads will be originating out of ramps in the area, including the BNSF Lindenwood terminal in St. Louis and the Norfolk Southern Luther Yard also in St. Louis. On the other side of the Mississippi River, carriers will be picking up freight from the Union Pacific Intermodal Terminal in Dupo, IL, and the CSX Rose Lake Yard in East St. Louis. To pick up containers out of these locations, owner operators will need to be registered with BNSF, NS, UP and CSX.

To use the DrayNow app, owner operators will need to have their own interstate authority, power unit, $1 million general liability insurance & $100,000 cargo insurance that has an AM Best rating of A- or better.
