Whether you’re on your first or hundredth DrayNow load, it’s important to keep the app updated to ensure information is accurately transmitted to the customer.

First, before leaving the rail, ensure that the container number you have entered is accurate. For pickups, “EH53G” reservations require EMHU prefixes, and “UM53G” reservations require UMXU prefixes. Incorrect letters and numbers can cause delays when rail billing is submitted to the customer.

When leaving the rail, make sure to tap the “I’ve Departed” button on the app to alert us that you’re on the way to the shipper or consignee. This also triggers the ETA function on the app, so make sure your location settings on your phone are actively on as well.

Upon arrival at the shipper or consignee, make sure to tap the “I’ve Arrived” button on the app. This will trigger your arrival time for use in case detention occurs. Speaking of detention, it’s always good practice to mark your in and out times on the BOL or POD and ensure to get the paperwork signed before departing as well!

Once you are ready to depart the customer, tap the “Loaded” or “Unloaded” button. When prompted, make sure to take a clear picture of the BOL or POD with the app. Ensure that the entire page or pages are visible, with the times and signatures in the frame. You can tap the “Add Another Page” button to add multiple pages to the app. After saving the documents, tap the “I’ve Departed” button so we know you’re back on the road.

When you get back, ensure that all of the proper documents and accessorials have been added to the app before you finish updating trip progress.

By keeping these best practices in mind, you can avoid the common pitfalls that come with updating the app, and you can save time while running with DrayNow, keeping you free to focus on the road ahead.
